Bookings are now being taken for Nottingham’s hottest new restaurant, Alchemilla. Chef and proprietor Alex Bond has announced the opening date, which will be Tuesday 1st August 2017.

News of Alex’s restaurant has most certainly whet my appetite. As a vegetable lover who appreciates the variety and diversity of vegetables (it is the way forward I tell you!), I am eagerly anticipating Alchemilla’s opening. This in addition to swathes of friends and family being vegetarian, means Alchemilla is on the top of my list when planning a family dinner out. Personally, I will be celebrating a special birthday in July, and a meal at Alchemilla is definitely on the cards for an awesome birthday treat.

For Alex, Alchemilla is the culmination of 19 years refining his craft in some of the UK’s best kitchens including four Michelin starred restaurants: Restaurant Sat Bains (2 Michelin stars), Auberge du Lac with Phil Thompson (1 star), Turners in Birmingham (1 star) and The Wild Rabbit in Kingham (1 star).

Alex has always wanted to open his own restaurant and this is the realisation of a long-held dream, which has been two years in the making.

Alchemilla will open for lunch from Wednesday to Saturday 12.00 – 14.30, for dinner from Tuesday to Friday 19.00-21.30, opening a little earlier on Saturdays from 18.30-21.30.

A sample menu has also been revealed which showcases Alex’s love of cooking with vegetables and combining them with exciting new flavour combinations.

The five-course tasting menu, competitively priced at £35, might include such dishes as:

  • salmon belly, lovage, green dashi
  • BBQ hispi, hazelnut milk, parmesan
  • duck, garden rhubarb, elderflower, nasturtium sauce
  • sea buckthorn, yogurt, sweet cicely
  • chocolate, miso, banana, lime

There are also seven and 10 course menus available, priced at £45 and £60 respectively. There will be a selection of small plates available at lunch for diners who prefer something a bit faster and lighter.
