In the chilly months of winter, it is nice to have something to look forward to. That summer holiday you booked in a haze of joy on Boxing Day may seem an age away (because it is). Now, if you fancy much needed R&R, or a pick-me-up treat, read on. Or, if you’re looking for a place to stay in Nottingham (you could be a cool tourist or business professional) this is the article you need to read.

I was thrilled to review one of The Birchover Residences in Nottingham. Nestled on Victoria Street in the heart of the city, Apartment 3 adjacent to Delilah was my bolt-hole for the weekend.

It looked like any other apartment. Check-in was easy, with a code on the outside and key plucked from the confines of a safe. A lift on the ground floor meant I could bypass the stairs, but as I wanted to explore, skipped upstairs two steps at a time.

Have you ever read The Chronicles of Narnia? I liken my experience of entering Apartment 3, to stepping foot in the magical land. It’s a beautiful inviting space, cosy yet expansive.

Polished hardwood floors start at the entrance and lead on throughout the apartment (although the bedrooms are carpeted). The table and mirror at the entrance was a thoughtful touch, letting you give yourself the quick onceover before facing the outside world (perfect if you’re a selfie queen too).

The lounge was very well proportioned, with warm vanilla and blush tones complementing the inspired artwork adorning the walls.

I love coffee tables and this squared beauty was no exception. Mirrored coasters were strategically placed on each corner, which looked very pretty and ticked the functional box too.

There’s no denying that the apartment is a stunning space. I loved the master bedroom, which was spacious and very, very well furnished. The striking pillows and perfectly made bed made me want to go to sleep early and curl up with a good book on that especially chilly night.

The second room accommodating twin beds was just as pretty, and large as the first bedroom. Heavy curtains were perfect for keeping the warmth contained, and the walls impervious to noise within the flat. (I cranked up the TV to see if I could be disturbed – the flat remained wondrously quiet). All three beds were gorgeously comfortable, whilst the pillows were on the right side of squishy (Never underestimate the importance of a squishy pillow.)

A self-confessed foodie, one of my favourite things about the apartment was the well-stocked kitchen. Being serviced apartments, we could enjoy the fully fitted kitchen, which included cupboards full of dishes, crockery, utensils, and one very good coffee maker. Breakfast (cereal, milk, orange juice) was provided on our first day. Being a coffee fiend, I popped downstairs to Delilah first thing in the morning, picked up some freshly ground Cheffe Jeneta, croissants and enjoyed breakfast in our beautiful lounge.

The handsome interior design is eye-catching. It’s a special sort of understated elegance that doesn’t whack you over the head, but gently coaxes you into a delectably luxe sense of living. The apartment has tonnes of storage, which would be great for a long-term let. This coupled with fabulous décor, gorgeous chairs, lovely lounge, and covetable bath makes me heartily recommend The Birchover Residences Nottingham. Free parking (one vehicle) is available at the Fletcher Gate car park, whilst the free, lightning fast wifi makes Tweeting a joy.

At the end of my stay, I didn’t want to leave. It had felt for me, a home from home, where I could revel in city centre living in luxurious surroundings. If I ever have to stay in Nottingham, The Birchover Residences will be my first port of call.

The Birchover Residences Nottingham boast five gorgeous two bedroomed apartments, including Penthouse, Superior and Deluxe. These apartments are places you’ll want to visit time and time again. Don’t just take my word for it. They hold a Certificate of Excellence (Top 10%) on Trip Advisor, were named Best Luxury Apartments 2016 in Lux Magazine’s Hotel and Spa Awards, and Most Outstanding Luxury Apartments 2016 in Acquisition International Magazine’s Excellence Awards.

Birchover also have properties in Derby, and the latest addition to their stable is wedding accommodation at Bridgford Hall, a beautiful Grade II listed Georgian building in West Bridgford, Nottingham. Bookings are now being taken at this unique wedding venue, which I recommend you check out.
