Hi all, I hope you’re all doing well. It’s Friday, hallelujah! What plans have you got for the weekend? I’ll be writing and editing all weekend, but as a treat, I’ll be popping into this gorgeous artisan market on Sunday in Bolton. Why?

A taste of Malaysia from a Manchester street food favourite will be there this Sunday (March 20 2016). The ab fab, totally rad Chef Jimmy Khor, born in Penang, will be offering up two free cookery demonstrations at noon and 1pm at the market.

Sharing is caring, so he’ll show visitors how to make malay satay chicken and prawn sambal. How cool is that? These dishes are perfect for the wintry chilly weather.

Khor is the owner of Nasi Lemak, which first started operating in Fallowfield, then Salford and he has just recently opened up an outlet at The Kitchens – Manchester Spinningfields’ newest dining destination.

He will join around 20 producers and suppliers at the monthly market, who will be selling high quality and locally sourced produce and goods.

The artisan market takes places at Heaton Fold Garden Centre, on Overdale Drive, between 10am and 4pm.

Goods on offer include handmade jams, pies and chocolates; speciality cakes and biscuits; Lancashire cheeses, and fresh fruit and vegetables along with bespoke home furnishings, crafts and jewellery.

There are four new traders at this month’s market selling brownies, fudge, upcycled metal and wood products, and photos.

The market is organised by Brian Hood, from Signature Soaps – a Bolton-based artisan producer of handmade soaps – in conjunction with the council.

Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, Cllr Nick Peel, said: “Having a chef like Jimmy at the market is a great coup. He is well known on the Manchester street food scene and will be a great addition to the market.”

If all this wasn’t enough to tempt your tastebuds, you can have a sit down in Heaton Fold Garden Centre’s café. Free parking is available on site.

For further information about the market or to enquire about joining future markets, contact Brian Hood, Signature Soaps, on 07888 845112 or e-mail [email protected].

I’ll be there, will you? See you then!
