Hello All,

How are you? It’s mighty cold out there and with the weekend around the corner (yippee!), I’ve already started my happy dance routine in my head,

OK,  it’s going to be an uber busy weekend packed chockfull with writing, blogging, vats of coffee and scrummy cake may be involved. Only, and I say only if I pass my word limit of 2000 by the end of the day.

I’m making real headway with my writing too. Screaming Snowflakes Sequel is coming along nicely, my characters are finally behaving and I just need to knuckle down and focus. Want to know what my problem is? I get so easily distracted by social media and good food. Seriously, every time I see a recipe on Twitter (James Martin, Simon Hopkinson, you know who you are) then I have to bookmark it and somehow, I hop from one foodie website to the next.

Next time during a writing session, I’m going to switch off my wifi and incentivise my word count. So, say I reach 1000 words, then I’m allowed a cup of coffee. When I hit 2000 words, then I get my second cup with maybe a teeny tiny biscuit thrown in for good measure. 3000 a words and I’m allowed another cup of coffee and I’m allowed to read Lee Child’s Jack Reacher (it’s a rare treat to read in the evening after a taxing day at work).

I’ll be writing whole chunks of Book 2 in a lovely café which I discovered last weekend; 200degrees Café in Nottingham. I can’t wait to check out their coffee and really really hope it’s as good as it looks. I’ll be writing my coffee blog from that café and may well do a food review (as one has to have lunch after all)…

What about you, what do you feel keeps you focused on the task to hand? Do you have any tips or tricks that you’d like to share on your writing preferences? I’d love to hear from you.

Ciao for now,

RAxx
