Hi all! With the weekend around the corner, and the weather due to be scorcher, it makes sense to get out and about to catch some rays and stock up on scrumptious food.

Look no further than this Sunday (May 15), where you will be treated to the magnificent presence of Alain Job, owner of Cameroonian food stall Nkono in Bolton Market.

Well known to market customers for his lively patter, and cool moves, Mr Job will be hosting two cookery demos at 11.30am and 12.30pm, showing people how to make jerk chicken and safari jollof rice. His jerk chicken certainly packs a punch (trust me, it’s delicious), whilst his entertaining demeanour means you’ll enjoy a weekend with a difference.

Around 15 producers and suppliers will be selling high quality and locally sourced food, drinks and crafts from 10am to 4pm.

Delicious food to check out include handmade jams, breads, pies, chocolates, speciality teas, Lancashire cheeses, fresh fruit and vegetables. For those who want to pick up something for the house. there are also bespoke home furnishings, crafts and jewellery on offer. Hot sausages from Bowland Pork will be available all day.

The market is organised by Brian Hood from Signature Soaps, a Bolton-based artisan producer of handmade soaps – in conjunction with the council.

For further information about the market or to enquire about joining future markets, contact Brian Hood, Signature Soaps, on 07888 845112 or e-mail [email protected].

The garden centre is on Overdale Drive, off Chorley New Road. Free parking is available on site.

See you there!
