Nottingham is one of my favourite cities and cocktails are one of my favourite alcoholic beverages. Put the two together and magic is guaranteed, which is why news of a brand new bar in Nottingham was enough to make my day (make that week).

Be At One is set to mix it up with one of the biggest cocktail menus the city has seen, serving over 150 different concoctions. The cool and cosmopolitan bar will be opening its doors on Victoria Street in September after work has been carried out to totally transform the venue, which used to be the Nirvana bar.

The cocktail institution has over 30 sites across the UK and this is the first in the East Midlands, creating 16 new jobs in the city.

Be At One prides itself on having fantastic bar staff, offering exceptional service and showmanship. The new Nottingham team will undergo an extensive training programme to ensure they give guests the best possible experience while preparing their drinks.

It has one of the industry’s largest cocktail lists serving everything from blended specialties like the Popster, topped with sweet and salty popcorn, and reimagined classics such as the Gin Re-Fashioned.

Popster

For “my body is a temple” acolytes, there are even healthier options in the virtuous range, which contain less alcohol and sugar. Beetroot juice, Manuka honey and carrot juice are among the ingredients used to create cocktails like the Beetroot Retox, Bee’s Knees and Flame-Haired Vixen.

Co-founder and director Steve Locke said: “I’m really looking forward to opening the bar – it’s going to be absolutely phenomenal. Nottingham is a great city and the Hockley area in particular is really buzzing, although there’s nothing like Be At One there at the moment.

“We take our drinks seriously and are consistently refining our menu and testing the drinks to keep improving them. We also pride ourselves on offering great customer service.”

The new bartenders are all local talent who will undergo nine weeks of training which costs £5,000 each. This training means that all our guests will be acknowledged within five seconds of reaching the bar.

This 5 second acknowledgement is new to me – no-one else invests so much in training their bartenders!

Guests at Be At One can also use its award-winning smartphone app, with a personalised ‘Appi Hour’ and a random daily £5 cocktail available through the ‘Be Appventurous’ feature. They can also make use of the private cocktail masterclasses, learning how to mix Be At One cocktails through games and races.

Be At One will open its doors in Nottingham on Friday 16th September. For more information hop onto website www.beatone.co.uk now.
