Hi all, how are you doing? It’s Friday, hallelujah! I’ve got a busy weekend planned, first off a murder mystery dinner this evening (which excites me greatly, because I’ve never been to a murder mystery event before), catching up with fab friends, putting my tree up and more writing. What are you up to?

If you’re being bashed around the head by Black Friday nonsense (it’s consumerism gone mad, MAD I tell you!), check out Compassionate Derby on Saturday 28th November, 10.30am to 4.30pm at St. Peter’s Church, Derby city centre. If you’re like me and can’t place actual addresses, it’s opposite the Costa Coffee in St. Peter’s Square (a stone’s throw away from Ryan’s Bar).

What’s so great about it? The up and coming holiday season is supposed to be about joy and peace, and Compassionate Derby strives to promote this message whilst reminding Derbians to make compassionate choices this Christmas.

Compassionate Derby is an ethical living fair that is free to attend and where everyone is welcome. It’s a really cool showcase of healthy, environmentally friendly and cruelty-free food and lifestyle products. There will be lots of free samples, charity and campaigning stalls, a generous raffle and much more.

Currently in its fifth year of running, the 2015 festive charity fair is set to be the best yet, with over 40 stalls in attendance. There will be numerous caterers offering tasty treats suitable for every diet, as well as craft stalls with unique ethical handmade gifts.

David Otieno from the organising team said: “We are giving the people of Derby a chance to take a break from their Christmas shopping and find out more about living a compassionate lifestyle. As well as giving them an opportunity to buy the prefect guilt-free gifts, of course!”

In addition to all the delicious food on offer, there will also be a range of ethical organisations and charities there supporting environmental, human and animal rights issues. There are a series of planned talks throughout the day, including plenty of opportunities to learn, discuss and explore some new ideas in a friendly and welcoming environment.

For more information, hop onto website www.compassionatederby.com. If social media is more your thing, go to Facebook: Facebook.com/CompassionateDerby or Twitter: @CompassionDerby.

I’ll be there, checking out the lush offerings of The Vegan Cakery and Tweeting using hashtag #CompassionateDerby. See you then!
