What are you doing this weekend? If you fancy a good-food fix, hop on over to Swarkestone Nursery, where you can explore foodie treats galore.

Set in the wonderful family-run garden centre and grounds, Swarkestone Nursery is due to open its doors for their second annual food and drink fair this weekend (Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 October). With over 40 stalls selling a scintillating selection of artisan foods and delectable drinks, you’re sure to discover something new and exciting to taste.

Peruse the impressive plant nursery whilst sipping on Prosecco, or head straight for the mouth-watering hog roast. If neither of them tickles your fancy do the rounds along the stalls where you will find everything from specialist coffees to cocktails, and home-made breads to freshly baked cakes.

If you’re into provenance (why wouldn’t you be?), then have a chat with the local honey producers or award-winning cheese makers, who may be kind enough to let you try before buy and tell you the secrets behind their trade.

There will be a few craft and gifts marquees dotted about too and some live music to accompany your delicious day.

What more could you want? I hope it doesn’t rain. Get yourself down to the Food & Drink Fair on the second weekend of October (Saturday 9am-5.30pm, Sunday 10am-4.30pm). See you there.
