Leicester has welcomed an exciting new addition to its restaurant scene. Indian eatery tamatanga, known for its hearty, home-style Indian food, has opened its third UK site in Shires Lane Leicester.

Tamatanga is the place to be for home cooked street-food style dishes, to cocktails, craft beers and lassis. Their concept is fussfree and relaxed all day eating with a laid back and fun vibe. Customers can also enjoy their daytime deal available until 6pm Monday to Thursday and daily two for one cocktails.

Cooking with their heart and soul, the kitchen team use fresh, wholesome ingredients to create food that is real and homely. Bursting with flavour but light and easy to eat, the menu is varied and unique. From hearty biryanis and classic curries to more unusual offerings, tamatanga is renowned for its legendary thalis, healthy clay oven plates, warming wraps and seriously good salads.

Children are wholeheartedly welcome, with baby changing facilities, highchairs, balloons, crayons and colouring all forming part of the tama tots and troublemakers experience, alongside a fantastic kids’ menu which has something for even the fussiest of eaters.

The bar area will feature its own seating for those who are just after a drink, or want to enjoy just a small bite from the lighter bar menu. At tamatanga the drinks are never overlooked and customers can enjoy a vast array of craft gins, craft beers and creative cocktails with exotic garnishes alongside coolers, wines, lassis and soft drinks.

The new opening follows the success of their Nottingham and Birmingham eateries, and the colourful and eye-catching restaurant design of their Birmingham restaurant has formed the inspiration for their Leicester venue, evoking a light hearted and playful feel of the streets of India.

Operations Director, Rahul Khurana, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be opening our third tamatanga in Leicester. We’re not your average Indian restaurant and like to do things differently. With Leicester already offering such a high level of Indian food it’s important to us that we offer something a little out of the ordinary and we can’t wait to show our customers in Leicester what we’re about.”
