The Market Place: Bolton’s Go To Fashion Response

Market PlaceHey guys! How’s it going? I’m just playing catch up on writing (consider this to be a post event write-up for a fashion show I attended at The Market Place in Bolton last week). Now, those of you who are familiar with my blogs already know that I cannot live without my daily fashion and coffee fix (courtesy of Vogue and Carluccio’s respectively). So, when I heard that my home-town was hosting a fashion show, I was there faster than a fashionista at the New Year’s Harrods’ Sale. I also happen to be a champion of community events and was thoroughly impressed with the catwalk set up by the cool bods at The Market Place.

Victor @ Pulse AgencyThe day kicked off with the first fashion show presenting key trends of SS13. From cutesy florals to sharp tailoring, Aztec prints and block colouring, the super sweet models from Pulse Agency sashayed down the catwalk to a packed audience of intrepid shoppers and eager fashion forward luvvies. Victor totally rocked this preppy coral Hugo Boss Blazer (£380) which, teamed with the White Palm Tree Print Tee (£45), made for a killer combo.

AmandaWith various fashion shows taking place over the course of the day with the likes of Norton Barrie, Debenhams, Warehouse and Zara participating, there were a tonne of gorgeous and versatile looks to choose from. If you wanted a smart-casual outfit or a glitzy ensemble, The Market Place was the place to be. What I love about these events is that they really pull people together from the community. I chatted to the lovely Mel Wallwork from The Bolton News who was also impressed with the fabulous content and sweeping scale of the event (see her write up here).

Back to the fashion show, where Oasis’s delicious Nude and Camel Cowl Dress caught my eye. It’s reminiscent of Vivienne Westwood’s Anglophenia label and its versatility knows no bounds. It can be carried off with aplomb in the office paired with a slim-line jacket or at a PR bash (I’ve earmarked this outfit for my book launch). Either way, this dress will turn heads no matter what your environ, which is why it has leapfrogged onto my list of ‘Favourite Pieces of The Year’.

With a super cool stylist dispensing tips and tricks for the fashion conscious shopper, the event was a smash. I had an in depth consultation with style guru Biba, who talked me through this season’s key trends and her look book. I’m currently in the process of compiling a Style Report for SS13/AW14 and it was nice to see great minds thinking alike. Biba was also a vision in her outfit and I couldn’t resist snapping her in this delectable Black & White Maxi Dress (£35.00) from River Island.

Another person bang on trend was the presenter for the day, Claire Morrow, who wore a Cream Dress with Black Lace from Warehouse (£65.00). Lace is a perennial favourite and there’s nothing like a snippet of this subtly sexy swathe to put a spring in one’s step (no pun intended). The Market Place hosts a number of events the full year round and no doubt they have more up their fashionable sleeve. Keep up the fab work guys – you rock.
