Books

Screaming Snowflakes is Ria’s debut novel and the first in a three-book saga, which is a Gothic romance with a supernatural twist. It is a tale close to Ria’s heart, and is a mash-up of her favourite genres of classic romance and YA fiction, with a dash of Bollywood thrown in for good measure. The second novel, Burning Raindrops will be released at the end of this year, so do keep your eyes peeled.

You can buy the first novel in the series now via Amazon. For a signed copy, or to discuss book events, email author@riaambertesia.com.

Whether you’re an avid reader or keen author, if you love books, read on. Here you’ll find articles about writing including tips on how to be a more productive writer, and the latest bestseller list updated every week.

The Derby Book & Cake Club

Combining the love of baking and reading

The Derby Book & Cake Club has been going for over three years. The group is a made up of self-confessed bibliophiles who love cake, a cheeky drink drink and who meet every month.

The group was born out of the dearth of reading groups in Derby. Ria set up the club after realising there wasn’t a local group that combined her two passions of reading and baking.

The Derby Book & Cake Club is more than just a reading group; with a diverse age range from 20 years to 60 years young, the wide appeal is down to the fact that reading and baking is a winning combination. For some, it’s also a social meeting and time-out from busy, hectic lives.

Books are chosen democratically and the group enjoy a chinwag, discussing the book of the month, catching up on goings on, all the while munching on a nice slice of home-made cake and sipping a warming brandy / beer (insert choice of usually alcoholic beverage).

So, Morgan would say something like: “Here comes the recipe for a…

WRITING OUTFIT: WHY I WEAR YAWN© WHEN I’M WRITING NOVEL 3

Writing is more than just a profession for me. It is a method of self-expression. It is what I enjoy doing, and when I am eye-ball deep in book plotting, I need to be wearing the appropriate clothing. By appropriate, I mean a dress-code. Yes there is a dress-code for writing, in that it has to be the most comfortable,…
